Reproduction Technician

Full Time | Farr West, UT

Position Summary: South Valley Equine’s (Heritage) Reproduction Technician will support and assist Veterinarians by completing clinical and clerical tasks while providing the best patient care. A Reproduction Technician plays an essential role in both routine and reproductive medical care. Both clinical skills and knowledge will be utilized in the support of the Veterinarian and the general staff.

Essential Duties:
– Assist veterinarians clinically during procedures and treatments.
– Provide daily patient care, ensuring the health and well-being of all animals.
– Prepare for procedures and treatments, including setup and support during operations.
– Administer PO (oral), IV (intravenous), and IM (intramuscular) medications as prescribed.
– Handle laboratory samples, including in-house and out-of-house sample obtainment, storage, and disposal.
– Process in-house prescription and supplement orders accurately.
– Maintain proper documentation in both written and electronic medical records (EMR).
– Relay thorough and accurate communications between clients, veterinarians, staff, and management.
– Maintain and stock lab supplies, medications, bandage materials, and equipment, including side carts.

Non-Essential Duties:
– Shag recipient and donor mares as needed.
– Perform minimal general barn maintenance, such as stall cleaning, feeding, and watering.
– Assist veterinarians with clerical tasks, including organizing and filing documentation.
– Keep the clinic and surrounding facilities clean and presentable.
– Maintain professionalism in appearance, demeanor, and communication.
– Perform additional duties as assigned by veterinarians or management.

Physical Requirements:
– Must be able successfully hold and restrain large animals.
– Must be able to have full range of motion to interact with animals and provide care.
– Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, at times.
– Must be able to access and navigate all terrains of the facilities.
– May be exposed to outside weather and unfavorable environment conditions.
– Must be able to work effectively in an environment with exposure to dirt, dust, pollen,
chemicals, animal hair and other particulates.

Education & Experience:
– High school diploma or equivalent; at minimum.
– Basic experience with and knowledge of horses and the equine industry.
– Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel preferred.
